Gouging Electrode

COPPER-COATED CARBON ROD FOR AIR GOUGING

Features

Formulated from carbon and graphite to combine the erosion resistance of carbon with superior electrical conductivity and lower oxidation speed of graphite, electrolytic deposit of a layer of copper as coating helps increase operating currents. Therefore faster travel speeds with better arc stability for all-position operation are achieved. Reduced radiation from the rod, increases operator comfort. Will not taper off above arc level thereby maintaining grooves of uniform width.

Applications

A superior electrode for cutting, gouging or bevelling all metals by the air-arc gouging process. The combination of an electric arc and compressed air jets aimed into the molten pool render this process ideal for removal of unwanted or defective metal. Typical applications are in foundries, for pad washing, cleaning fins and risers, removal of cracks, sand pockets and defects in castings; fabrication shops, for back gouging, bevelling and removing defective welds; maintenance shops, needing pre weld preparation of broken parts, clearing hard surfacing before rebuilding and cutting of unwanted parts.
